WHO RUN THE WORLD?!  Hi, everyone!  Happy March and Women’s History Month!  There are SO many picture books to help us celebrate amazing, groundbreaking, determined, smart, talented women from all over the world.  Seriously, there are so many; it was very hard to pick the ones I wanted to share this year.  And tbh a month is not nearly long enough to fully celebrate the indispensable women who make the world go ‘round.  Quite literally, we are Making. Things. Happen. At. All. Times.

This blog post is devoted to picture books for all readers.  Whether in the classroom or at home, each of these books is packed with information about history-making women.  I especially love the ones that appeal to young girls, showing them that these difference-makers were once girls like them!  I tried to organize them into categories as best I could for ease of browsing.  OKAY.  It’s time to turn on some Beyoncé (WHO ARE WE?!) and learn about GIRLS.  Let’s dive in.

She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History

She Persisted in Sports: American Olympians Who Changed the Game

Shaking Things Up: 14 Young Women Who Changed the World

I rounded up all these titles on a shelf in my Bookshop (HERE!), so if you think you’ve found one to love, be sure to add it to your shelf and support local bookstores while doing so.  Thank you so much for popping by and for reading along.  I hope you’ve learned a few more names of exceptional women just from reading this list!  For every name you see here, we know there are millions of other women and girls who are quietly making their mark--big or small--on the world.  Let us never cease to celebrate and learn about them.

Happy Reading!

-Amy-
